SELFCARE: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU?

Self care can be experiencing new places

SELFCARE!!!

When we hear the word self care sometimes we automatically allude it to skincare or doing something that is supposed to help you feel much more relaxed, but if you look at the word deeply, self care encompasses much more than just the idea of enjoyment or spoiling yourself silly.

Self care can be you reflecting more on your habits, choices and making a decision to quit doing the things that decreases the quality of your life.

Self care can also be you scrutinizing your diet and making sure to include more fiber, vitamins and minerals that nourish your body. It may also be you trying to building an exercise routine or creating a new hobby that helps your body move more and burn more calories.

Self care can be you getting to know yourself by booking that medical check up that helps you pay attention to body, notice the changes and habits to cut or include helping your physical health.

Self care also helps you prioritize your emotional, mental and physical health, gives you a clearer picture on the things to let go of, the decisions hindering you from elevating your life and the people you need to cut loose to keep your mind in check.

Self care can be you deciding to build good hygiene habits like washing your hand frequently , paying more attention to always looking your best, brushing and flossing your teeth before bed, changing your brush every two months and moisturizing your body more delicately instead of being in a rush always or increasing your water intake.

Self care can be you deciding to limit the way you self medicate, starting supplementation with your doctor’s advice or booking that aromatherapy massage especially when you’re physically exhausted.

Self care can be learning to say NO.

Self care can also be you decluttering your space, cleaning up and letting go of the things that are not useful to you anymore, a clean and organized environment gives you space to think and helps your mind sail far from depression and anxiety, it also makes you happy and gives you the pleasure of enjoying your personal space much more.

Self care doesn’t just feed the body, it heals the mind and soul, it helps you learn to put yourself first so that you can fill your own cup especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed and need to understand the source of your emotional, physical or mental issues. You can choose a day in the week or month where you dedicate strictly to caring for just yourself. You turn off that phone and shut the world out to rediscover yourself. This helps me feel re-energized and happy and increases the quality of your output to people around you.
